Name: Kristin Fitzgerald
Position/Store: Assistant Manager – Urban Chic Georgetown
It is about time we introduced the new amazing assistant manager at Urban Chic Georgetown. Kristin started out in television and then came to us from guest relations at The Ritz-Carlton in Pentagon City. We are so lucky to have someone like her with such a dynamic background! I would also have to say this girl has the best attitude about everything. She even makes cleaning the store an absolute blast and always has a smile on her face! In the meantime, you and I can both get to know Kristin a little bit better. I sat down with her to find out more about her style, favorite store pieces, and advice for chic shoppers.
G: Kristin, one of the best things about having you at the Georgetown store is that you bring a totally new style. How would you describe your personal look?
K: I would say classic & timeless. I love tailored pieces that I am able to dress up every day, even if I’m just going to the movies. Jen (Georgetown manager) chimed in saying; “Kristin really likes navy and all of her first blogs pictures consisted of something that had navy in it.” Kristin fired back with “true fact!” (one of her favorite phrases!)
G: I’m pretty sure I’m going to know the answer to this question, but I want everyone to know this, who is your favorite designer?
K: Hands down: Diane Von Furstenberg. She makes every girl feel and look her best. You cannot go wrong with any of her pieces. Her designs are effortless. You can go through your closet grab a wrap dress (or 20!) and look immediately put together.
G: I’m pretty sure Kristin owns more DVF than anyone at Urban Chic! If you are looking for a DVF piece definitely ask for Kristin at Georgetown.
Kristin in fabulous DVF of course..
G: I know you shopped at Urban Chic before you even starting working here, but would you say your favorite purchase is recently?
K: Speaking of DVF, the Zarita dress in cobalt that I got here is gorgeous and perfect for a wedding or cocktail party. It is really fun as well with an exposed zipper in the back, but still a classic lace DVF dress.
G: She wore this dress with her AMAZING wedding shoes. I cannot even describe how out of control (OCC-another favorite Kristin phrase, haha!) those shoes are.
G: There are so many great pieces in the store right now and you are so great at helping shoppers find exactly what they want! What is your favorite item in the store right now that shoppers must check out?
K: Rebecca Minkoff Becky blazer should be in everyone’s closet. Everyone should own at least one… or maybe three, she says! This blazer can be taken from day to night flawlessly. This blazer comes in every color imaginable.
Here is Kristin in her favorite Becky blazer…(Available at UC Georgetown!!)
G: Since interning and becoming a salesgirl at the store, I love how you give your honest opinion to Urban Chic shoppers. You tell everyone the truth and want them to leave as happy as possible with their purchase and a great experience in the store. What is your personal shopping advice?
K: Most importantly, I would say to dress for your own body type. Fit is key. Get to know your tailor as well. For me, I find certain designers that work really well for me and I stick to them. It is always worth it to try something on even if it does not have the hanger appeal, it can completely transform the look by trying it on. At the end of the day, you have to feel confident and good in what you are wearing and let your own personality shine through.
G: We all know how classic and fashionable you are, but has your style changed since working at Urban Chic?
K: I have slowly started to incorporate more casual pieces into my everyday wardrobe. The other big thing is I have never worn maxi skirt or dress prior to working here. Trying something outside my comfort zone I fell in love with three fabulous NAVY (haha) pieces.
Kristin loves dresses and shorts, but she has broken out of her comfort zone for some great white jeans and a summer sweater…
G: In that big closet of yours…what three pieces can you not live without?
K: BLAZERS, BLAZERS, BLAZERS! And also a fabulous wrap dress and a scarf to tie it all together. And maybe a statement necklace, but seriously a blazer transforms any outfit.
G: The girl who is always fabulous and fashionable at an event, what has been your favorite Urban Chic event so far?
K: It is hard to choose just one because we do have so many fun events. If I had to choose one…the bridal event called Urban Chic “Says I Do” that we held back in the Spring was such a great event. It was so fun to work the event because everyone that came in was so thrilled with the upcoming festivities of getting married. Everyone is so excited and they are shopping for the perfect outfit for a brunch or rehearsal dinner. We also had two gorgeous wedding dresses from Carine’s Bridal in the window. I loved working with all of the brides and finding out about every detail of their big day. It is hard not to smile during this event. (Kristin is always smiling by the way!)
G: We all know Kristin wants to renew her vows to her lovely husband Don every year! Every white dress that comes in the store she is the first one to do a fashion show for us. She can help any bride find the perfect outfits for their big day.
Kristin in our new favorite Alice & Olivia white dress…(I told you she is always the first to try on new white arrivals!)
You have now gotten to know Kristin a little bit better and you must stop by and meet her in person! We are so lucky to have her as a part of the Georgetown family. Make sure to come out and check out all of our new summer arrivals. Have a great & chic week everyone!!
