CHIC Girl Profile: Fashion Obsessed CHIC Girl

Jenna Gobeli, Assistant Manager

Name:  Jenna Gobeli

Position:  Assistant Manager

Daily duties:  As the Assistant Manager of Urban Chic Annapolis, I strive to ensure that our employees enjoy a pleasant working environment and of course, I aspire to maintain excellent customer service.  I find it very satisfying to know that our clients can rely on Urban Chic to find timeless pieces for every occasion and leave our boutique happier than when they entered.  My favorite responsibility is undeniably merchandising the store on a weekly basis.  Fashion and styling have always been a great passion of mine, and I immensely enjoy mixing and matching merchandise for clients to find the perfect CHIC look.

Top 3 style icons:  As a true lover of fashion, my three style icons are all designers – Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta and Ralph Lauren.  Drawing inspiration from her four daughters, Carolina Herrera creates timeless pieces that reflect her super eloquent and CHIC style.  Anyone who has studied fashion or simply adores this art form knows that Oscar de la Renta is one of the most talented designers of our generation and is a genius at his craft.  His amazingly beautiful fabrics hail from all corners of the globe and are simply irresistible!  Whether his designs are modeled on the runway, red carpet or intended for everyday wear, they all embody his remarkable and memorable style.  Finally, I greatly admire Ralph Lauren and especially, his runway collection.  This brand’s all-American vibe is extremely appealing, incorporating fabulous down-to-earth pieces that are simultaneously high end.  I idolize the way he mixes rugged elements with very elegant designs, producing eternally classic garments.

Favorite celebrity style:  Call me a lover of blondes if you will, but I’m crazy about emulating the styles of Sienna Miller, Kate Hudson and Lauren Conrad.  Sienna Miller is constantly on the cutting edge of fashion, taking risks and creating unique looks. I’m in awe of the way she pairs distinctive pieces together yet manages to look very natural.  Who doesn’t love Kate Hudson?  Her style is unquestionably flawless and effortless – the perfect combination in my book! Lauren Conrad has come a long way since her days in Laguna Beach, and since she’s embraced a more grown-up, fashion forward look, I love her style!

Best fashion advice you’ve ever received, read or heard:  Don’t shoot the messenger but…Splurging is not a sin!  Investing in high-quality (and yes, often high priced) items is not a crime because it’s these pieces that will last a lifetime and provide you with many fantastic memories!  Remember, if you splurge a little, it will go a long way!

Favorite trend of all time:  Ruffles!!! What CHIC girl doesn’t adore a classic design with a great silhouette that is adorned with feminine ruffles???  Several designers like Rebecca Taylor and Nanette Lepore have fully embraced this trend and incorporate ruffles in their garments, creating flirty and fun yet sophisticated looks.  Also, pairing beautiful ruffles with masculine pieces (think a sleek boyfriend blazer or motorcycle jacket) can spice up any girl’s look!

Your very own fashion faux pas:  I’m having trouble confessing this…but…I obnoxiously wore glittered tops that were super tight to several high school dances.  Let’s be honest, who didn’t enjoy a zebra print top clad in glitter that probably nearly blinded your date??  No worries, I’m sure I paired them with a pair of tight black pants and the ever-so-trendy platforms.

Worst fashion faux pas you’ve witnessed:  Too easy – Seasonal Sweaters! Of course, those of us who opted to sport these heinous garments also paired them with matching earrings and a broach…Eek!  Ladies, no matter what the season calls for, it is not an excuse to dig through your closet to find a sweater with jingle bells or a teddy bear sitting in a pile of leaves!

2 favorite pieces in Urban Chic right now:  I’m currently gaga, yes gaga, over the Milly Olivia Chevron Dress, which is to die for!  The brilliant colors instantly catch your eye, and the plunging back makes any exit dramatic and sexy.  Slip into a pair of Dolce Vita boots and a Kiki Beach necklace, and you’re all ready for a night on the town.  I’m also dying to purchase the Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent Ruffle Front Mini Skirt – It’s, well, bananas!  Reminiscent of eighties chic, this skirt is funky, flirty and feminine.  Great for a night out with your girls, I would style this piece with the Nanette Lepore Paradise Top in Berry, Elizabeth & James Boyfriend Blazer and a pair of enticingly hot pumps!

Describe the perfect outfit for a wedding reception:  As my own wedding is right around the corner, I’ve been keeping my eye out for great dresses that are appropriate for such occasions.  My girlfriends constantly ask me what to wear to these events, and right now, I would recommend the Yumi Kim Elana Dress.  To make this dress truly pop, I would pair it with a pair of House of Harlow Drop Earrings and a snazzy pair of gold heels.  If it’s going to be chilly out, keep your look effortlessly CHIC by draping a Love Quotes Scarf around your shoulders
