Off to the Races!

May is here, and that means it’s time for everyone’s favorite preppy pastime:  horse racing!  After all, is it really a sport if you can’t watch it while drinking a mint julep and wearing a fancy hat?  Whether you’re heading to Gold Cup this weekend, watching the Kentucky Derby at a posh viewing party, or getting ready for Preakness in a few weeks, you’re going need a new frock to stand out amongst the well-dressed masses.  Take a cue from Georgetown’s Sloan or Baltimore’s Sarah and check out their picks for each of our favorite spring dress trends!

Crisp white: You can’t go wrong with classic white—just make sure not to get too close to the guy stumbling around with his glass of bourbon!

Seeing Stars: Eva Longoria

It’s happened to all of us. One second you’re casually flipping through your favorite tabloid, indulging in a little guilty pleasure on your lunch break.   The next moment the outfit of your dreams has caught your eye thanks to one of Hollywood’s “It” Girls!  Immediately you’re on the hunt to find exactly what she was wearing because you’ve got the perfect occasion in mind.

In our case, it was Eva Longoria whose casual look we were dying to recreate.  It’s hard not to be envious – she always looks so effortlessly pulled together and gorgeous!  But we digress.  Not only does she earn style points from us for the colored denim, which is back in full force this Spring and Summer, but we love the versatility of this look.  It’s perfect for running errands on a weekday afternoon or a casual lunch with your girlfriends.  And with the start of Spring there’s one more occasion to add to that list… baseball!  This outfit is the perfect way to show your team spirit.  Go Orioles!

California Dreamin’

Ugh! Is there anything more depressing than the end of January?  The excitement of the holiday season is over and spring seems like light years away.  This week’s frigid temps (not to mention the snow coming down as we speak) haven’t been helping, either.  We at Urban Chic are all dreaming of a tropical vacation, but even if an escape to sunnier climes isn’t on your agenda, you can still dress the part with our fabulous new resort arrivals!

The Shirt Trunk Show at Urban Chic Georgetown!!!

We are so excited to have The Shirt Holiday Collection at our Georgetown store! The trunk show started yesterday and will last until this Sunday, December 9th. Rochelle Behrens designed a collection of button downs that actually fit properly because of the dual button technology that keeps them from gaping. How smart is that?? The Shirt is practical and comes in many colors and prints!
